About Us

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

Freeling is part of the Barossa and Light Bowling Association (BLBA), competing in pennants against teams from Lyndoch, Nuriootpa, Tanunda, Angaston, Kapunda, Mt Pleasant, and Eudunda. The association is affiliated with Bowls SA, the governing body for South Australian lawn bowls, which reports to Bowls Australia and ultimately to World Bowls.

The BLBA belongs to Region 4, which includes Silver City, Riverland, and Mid Murray associations. This is a geographical grouping for representative competitions, rather than a management region.

During the main bowls season, we play pennants on Thursday mornings, Thursday afternoons, and Saturday afternoons. Saturday games are played in three divisions (1, 2, 3), and Freeling will field teams in Divisions 1 and 3 for the 2024/25 season.

We warmly welcome newcomers, whether novice or experienced, to enjoy a sport that offers fun, enjoyment, and competition. Our members range in age from teenagers to octogenarians, showcasing that lawn bowls is a sport for all ages and abilities. During the main bowls season, practice sessions are held every Tuesday afternoon from 4:00 pm onwards.

Like many smaller country towns, we are deeply connected to our community. We make our club rooms available to other local groups. Currently, teams play competition darts and 8-ball on Tuesday or Wednesday nights from 7:30 pm at the club. Additionally, the local CWA, CFS, and RSL occasionally use our club rooms or bowls facilities.

Freeling Bowling Club is funded by membership fees, fundraising activities, and support from a few generous sponsors. Fundraising includes sales at our club bar, raffles, and social bowls events and tournaments run by the club.
